Floating
Do’s
Arrive on time.
We recommend 20 minutes prior to your first session and 5 minutes early for subsequent appointments. If you arrive late, your float time will be shortened accordingly.
Give yourself enough time!
We suggest 1.5 to 2 hours for an hour float. As you shower beforehand, as well as when you exit, and want to spend a few minutes in our lounge before heading back into the world, make sure you give yourself enough time.
Shower before entering the tank using the soap only, as well as use the waterproof ointment provided.
Shower using soap head to toe prior to heading into the floats will ensure a better experience. The waterproof ointment is there to protect your skin against the extreme salt water. Use it sparingly on small nicks or cuts, as well as any sensitive areas.
Shower after your float
If you don’t, you’ll be a crusty salty mess! You are already clean, so no need to use soap again, but you might want to shampoo and condition your hair.
Rinse your ears off after your float to prevent salt crystallization
We provide you with silicone earplugs, which are optional to wear. Regardless, please rinse your ears very well in the shower after to prevent any salt crystallizing. If, at home, you start to feel salt crystals, you can rinse your ears with a 1:1 ratio mixture of vinegar and rubbing alcohol.
Go to the washroom prior to your float
Nothing is worse than getting into the zen of a float and then realizing you have to go to the washroom! Even if you just went prior to coming, try again!
Ask any questions you might have beforehand
We want to ensure you have an enjoyable float! Please ask any questions you might have prior to your experience.
Floating
Don’t’s
Book an appointment if you require assistance in and out of the tank without talking to us first.
If you have mobility issues, please come and visit us first to see if getting in and out might be an issue for you.
Shave or wax 12 hours before your float,
This can create micro-cuts in your skin, which will burn when in contact with the salt water of the floats! Trust us, don’t do it!
Book an appointment if you are menstruating without using proper protection
Yes, floating is safe to do while menstruating, but it is a myth that you do not continue menstruating while in water or lying down. Please use protection, preferably a menstrual cup. If you have a heavy flow, you might want to postpone until the heaviness dissipates.
Book an appointment if you have any of the following without talking to a medical professional first
Incontinence
Infection skin or respiratory disorders
A high-risk pregnancy without Dr’s approval first
Epilepsy or serious mental health conditions
Gastrointestinal issues that could soil the tank
Do not book an appointment if you have:
Freshly applied artificial tanning product
Freshly dyed hair (bleach is ok, hair must be running clear) or chemically altered hair (straightened or permed)
Perform the “white towel test” on your hair (rubbing a wet white towel on your hair) to see if the dye runs
Artificial tanning products and hair dye can stain the float solution as well as our cabins, resulting in a cleaning fee
Consume alcohol or stimulants prior to your float
We reserve the right to refuse service if you are under the influence.
Eat a heavy meal 3 hours or drink caffeine prior to your float.
Your stomach will be heavy and potentially nauseous if you eat a heavy meal prior to your float! We suggest a light meal approximately 1.5 hours prior to your float. An empty stomach might grumble and disrupt your float, so make sure to eat something!
Too much caffeine can stimulate your brain and render it difficult to enter into the zen of the float.
And make sure to limit your water intake prior to your float, you don’t have to have to go to the washroom while you float!
Take too long to shower afterwards
We need to prepare the room for the following appointment. There are hair dryers in the bathrooms.
Please note
The water goes through a thorough filtration and UV system and we manually test the water quality after every float. If we require to clean and/or drain the tank after your float, you could be charged a cleaning fee of up to $2000.
